Jody C. - It is time for Change for my community! My community does not have anyone involved with Type 1 Diabetes. Since I am Diabetic it is time to make a change!

Danny M. - Using my skills and opportunities as a storyteller to engage communities in essential dialogues regarding social justice and sustainable coexistence. (www.familiarvoicesmovie.com)

Radhika M. - Helping children get the education they need. It begins with basic classroom supplies. www.SupplyOurSchools.org is an online gift registry that matches donor with classrooms most in need of school supplies.

Juliete P. - helping all demographics of my community/environment, and in doing so, the collective family of our world. In my apartments, church, classroom, work, with family and friends; my inherent community builder, mentor and cultural interpreter serves.

Charlie S. - being the best journalist I can be in order to fill minds with accurate information so the public is better informed of the world.

Dewey H. - I commit to continue volunteering to help family and friends in the Appalachian coalfields loosen the grip poverty has on this region. At age 74 my mission is to work toward changing a culture from one of despair to one of hope.

Olin L. - continue pushing information technology based social entrepreneurship in Hawaii in order to model how the mission and finances of nonprofits can be partially met by engaging in for profit activities.

Brock B. - assisting as many organization working for the public good as possible in my lifetime. There's a need for active participation in working for the common good and that need will only be filled by individuals, such as myself.

Sherieka A. - reaching out to the local community centers in order to form art and character development workshops to develop the skills of the youth. This will allow the youths to stay off the streets, and express their talents in a positive and creative manner.

Carla B. - continuing to volunteer in New Orleans doing post-Katrina restoration projects. I also teach in Chicago and arrange for speakers to talk with homeowners about the importance of preserving existing buildings and making them more energy efficient.

Angie K. - Change begins with me. I commit to help local children in the TeenREACH afterschool program. I will commit to inspire them to pay it forward. I will help to ensure the kids have healthy afterschool snacks and stay active.

Ian S. - find 6 community organizations near me and offer my experience and time as an organizer and new media activist in workshops and regular advice or support.

Ana Maria R. - To laugh more often and spread happiness through good mood. Look at everyone in the eye and care genuinely about other people's ideas and thoughts!

Tracy J. - using my work in healthcare and non-profit to start a one-stop caregiver support and resource center within my small home health care company. This will provide access to employees in obtaining education, finance and housing assistance.

Denzelle W. - joining a big brother program and mentoring a young person. Having a mentor when I was younger had a big deal to do with me going to college to be successful so I wish to do the same for a younger generation.

Alana F. - nothing but complete dedication to create and maintain local efforts that help make my community an excelent place for people to interact, grow, develop and support one another in respect and dignity.

Griffin L. - working with several local groups in the creation of a national monument commemorating and history and the legacy of slavery in the United States, I am committed to keeping history alive.

Patricia P. - Be a facilitator & mentor to volunteers with the "Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin'-By World" class.This is a grass roots project that brings persons from all economic groups together to solve personal and community problems that impact prosperity.

Barb V. - I commit to change in my community by providing support/information on increasing daily activity at the local drop in center for consumers diganosed with a mental health disorder weekly.

Gloria P. - Change begins with me. I commit to using my facilitation and presentation skills to help men and women improve their interview skills by conducting a minimum of three “improving your speaking skills” seminars for those seeking employment.

Lauren L. - finally filling out that volunteer application and taking a few hours a week to volunteer with my local women's community clinic to put my health education experience and skills to good use by inspiring women to be empowered to be healthy and happy.

Bobbi M. - volunteer in helping young pregnant women who are frightened & scared make positive decisions for their lives and the lives of their unborn children. Also to teach more classes with Junior Achievement whereby touching the lives of our youth.

Shannon E. - devoting my life to diverse cultural preservation and celebration. There is no time greater than now to appreciate our unique gifts to the world. The ability to interact and develop together is the ability to strenghten our spirits.

Debbie A. - continuing my gardening activities to inspire hope and confidence in people living in poverty. They will experience plants as a source of healing, nutrition, income and beauty.

Julia P. - providing stress-relief & wellness for everyone regardless of their financial situation at my natural/organic, environmentally friendly spa with a "pay-what-you-can" business model.

Frank W. - Outdoor activities for special need people not commonly available, trips for fishing, hikes and outings, boating & camping, extending the time and scope of the activities. Acquire land and improve it for easy access to specialized transportation.

Katrina L. - dedicate a year or more to serve through AmeriCorps VISTA. I will use my skills in writing and communication to help build the capacity of Eagle Ridge Institute in Oklahoma. Through my commitment I will help securing new funding for the organization.

Imani M. - I commit to change by using my home as a drop-in center for homeless teens located near the Atlanta Stadium. We’ll make referrals for services and invite participation in our Teen Theater Group entitled: Y.E.S. 4 Health, Inc.

Dyan B. - Hi... I knit preemie hats for my local NICU. I love to knit and also love the idea of all those babies wearing my hats.

Zephyr F. - Volunteer for every second and fourth Friday of each month in the Prince Georges' Public Schools, assisting in the classrooms of the Remedial Reading classes, to help students to improve their reading and comprehension skills.
